“More than 152,000 REALTORS® took action [on the Stop Patent Trolls CFA],” Polychron said. “It is because of you that the National Association of REALTORS® is the preeminent grassroots advocacy network in Washington. When REALTORS® speak, Congress listens.”

“Arizona’s participation rate to Stop Patent Trolls was 12.49-percent,” added AAR CEO Michelle Lind, “but going forward, we can and must do better. While we’re waiting on the outcome of the patent troll legislation, we have an opportunity to stop Congress from taking money from future homeowners.”

As reported in the October 20, 2015 edition of the VOICE, Congress is considering a tax on ALL consumers looking to buy or refi. This could cost several thousand dollars over the life of a loan and deter some borrowers.

The proposal before the House of Representatives Transportation and Infrastructure Committee calls for using Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s credit risk guarantee fees (g-fees) to fund transportation programs, thereby putting an unnecessary long-term burden on American homeowners.
