Arizona REALTORS® 2017 Leadership Conference more than delivered on its theme of Together, We Inspire.

It started when first keynote speaker Dave Richards explained How to Inspire and CONNECT During
High-Stake Moments of Conversations
. “Connecting is the ability to identify with people and relate to them
in such a way that increases your influence and leadership,” said Richards.

He then offered three tips about connecting:

  • It’s About Others – Connection begins when the other person feels VALUED
  • It’s About Energy – Initiative, Enthusiasm, Stamina
  • It’s About Authenticity – Nothing can happen THROUGH you unless it happens IN you.

Jeff Turner spoke about Building a Values-Based Association (by) Exposing the Heart of Leadership, “We’re at the doorway of a truly unique opportunity, one that…could transform how we look at our personal real estate investments and perhaps make them the primary vehicle for providing the bulk of retirement income.”

Turner had talked about real estate futures with REALTOR® Bill Lublin and they had two predictions:

  1.  Personal Real Estate Investment is the emerging American Dream, and
  2.  Renters will be seen and treated as social equals with people that own their homes.

After being honored for her own service, 2017 President Paula Monthofer presented Community Service Awards to Nick Bastian and the Sedona Verde Valley Association of REALTORS®. Bastian planted flags at the Tempe Healing Field for every life lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and the local association members planted flag poles and installed monuments at the Verde Valley Military Service Park in Cottonwood.

Arizona REALTORS® Foundation for Housing & Community Outreach donated $1,000 to the Phoenix Association of REALTORS® for a micro-library at a historic ranch home-turned-café, while the Yuma Association was awarded $2,000 to help transform vacant space into a neighborhood park.

Monthofer also presented the Arthur Crozier Distinguished Service Award to 2014 President Evan Fuchs for his exceptional service to the association’s strategic focus areas. For being the best prepared with highest standards, CEO Michelle Lind was honored with The Tyler Strout Vision Award.

“The ability for us to honor two professionals who are as enormously respected and loved as these, is an honor in itself,” said Monthofer.

Immediately following the installation ceremony for next term’s state and local association officers, 2018 President Lori Doerfler gave her inaugural address.

“Lori’s breadth of knowledge and leadership qualities will ensure that Arizona REALTORS® continues to be the go-to source for our members and the community,” added Lind.
