How excellent are you? Last year, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) board of directors approved a program to help you find out.

The Commitment to Excellence (C2X) program will let you voluntarily test yourself against a standard of excellence in about a dozen areas that are crucial to your profession.

For example:

  • Understanding transaction forms and contracts
  • Mastery of technology
  • What’s right and wrong under NAR’s Code of ethics

NAR 2018 President Elizabeth Mendenhal recently spoke about C2X in a Facebook Live event.

Mendenhall:  It’s going to be a self assessment that’s designed to say…
Where do your skills stand with negotiating?
Where do your skills stand with your forms and contracts?
How does that compare to the marketplace?

There is another thing that’s going on with professionalism now, that maybe didn’t happen 10 or 15 years ago, and it’s the difference of level of technology competency that you’re finding from REALTOR® to REALTOR®.
So, if someone who you’re working with in a transaction doesn’t have that same technology competency that you might have, you’re not seeing them as professional as you.

C2X is scheduled to roll out later this year and will rate REALTORS® on about a dozen competencies in all.
