At the 2015 Leadership Summit, National Association of REALTORS® 2016 President Tom Salomone announced a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA).

“For more than 150 years, millions of kids have called the Boys & Girls Clubs their home away from home,” Salomone said. “I encourage all of our associations and members to volunteer time and resources to their local club and make a difference in the lives of some pretty special kids.”

BGCA provides a safe place, caring adult mentors and high-impact youth development programs that emphasize academic success, good citizenship and healthy lifestyles.

Arizona REALTORS® is encouraging its members to participate in National “Tell A Story” Day on Wednesday, April 27 by volunteering to read at Boys & Girls Clubs near your local association.

“The Western Pinal Association of REALTORS® has four chapter locations to choose from,” said 2016 WPAR President Jim Robinette. “We have three in Casa Grande and one in Arizona City.”

Robinette asked members to read to four different age groups, primarily kindergarten through 5th grade. “Once I have enough REALTORS®,” he continued, “we will schedule locations and times.”

Suggested K-3 books include “Homes Around the World,” “How a House is Built” and “The Little House.” Other titles, including some for older children, are available from the Fair Housing Center of Southeast & Mid-Michigan here, or you may wish to check with a local librarian or book seller.

Another option to reading would be to invite children to write about or illustrate their dream house.

The next Arizona REALTORS® project will be a Summer Donation Drive in June to collect sunscreen, flip flops, bottled water and other seasonal items for Boys & Girls Clubs. For more information, contact Director of Association Relations Monica Schulik via email or by calling 602.248.7787 x443.
