Are You a True Professional?

Is being a “true” professional different from any other professional? Yes.
REALTORS® are trusted to help buyers find a home, and being a true professional is really about “being.” It is about who you are inside, about your character and the positive role you assume in the lives of clients, friends and fellow REALTORS.
Being polite, ethical and knowledgeable follows your personal satisfaction and affirmation for having made a significant contribution to a good result. It is the “true” and authentic “you” — it is who you are and how you’re seen.
You can reinforce this positive feeling in many concrete ways:
- Take a photo of happy buyers waving in front of the dream home they purchased with your help, then hang it where you’ll see it every day
- Drive by homes of past clients with pride and take a photo of new landscaping or other improvements, then send them the picture with your compliments
- Send emails asking for feedback from clients or other REALTORS® with whom you work, then keep their accolades in a “brag file” and revisit it often
- Place a mirror near where you make phone calls, then watch yourself being more polite and pleasant when talking to others.
Belonging to the real estate Industry is a noble endeavor with a higher purpose. What you do is significant and can have an astonishing impact on clients, colleagues and communities. REALTORS® have a noble role to give and to serve; professional behaviors flow in a natural way from feeling that generosity of spirit.
