Know Before You Owe – Residential Rental Transaction Privilege Tax Changes
If you are a REALTOR® that practices property management, understanding the changes that occur with Residential Rental Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) is imperative to your clients and your business.
In Arizona, every residential rental property owner is required to obtain an Arizona Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) license from the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) for each location where residential rental income is taxable. This applies regardless if the owner rents the property themselves or employs a Property Management Company (PMC).
To assist property owners and Property Management Companies, the Arizona Department of Revenue has a dedicated hotline and email address to assist with questions about TPT filing and payment.
- Phone: 602-716-RENT (7368)
- Email: ResidentialRental@azdor.gov
Additionally, the department offers residential rental education and training workshops on how to file and pay taxes in Arizona. For a list of upcoming workshops visit: ADOR TPT Workshops
Lastly, to stay up-to-date please sign up for the TPT newsletter and get updates through email or text alerts. These notices include TPT due dates, city tax rate changes, license renewals and new features on AZTaxes.gov.
