Is Your Cell Phone Connected to AAR’s Agent Safety Alert Program?
Local and national media are taking notice of the Arizona Association of REALTORS® Agent Safety Alert Program (ASAP) that went into effect September 1, 2015. Are you aware and connected?
ASAP was designed to alert REALTORS® of critical safety issues via an exclusive, text-alert system. These issues include threats to the safety and well-being of REALTORS® or their clients and help in locating missing persons.
Alerts will only be issued to REALTORS® with profiles within the geographic area in which an incident occurs.
REALTORS® using text-friendly cell phones registered with their local association will automatically be signed up to receive ASAP alerts. To ensure receipt, update your profile information here.
Note, if you do not have an unlimited texting plan, standard message and data rates may apply.
Active REALTORS® may submit anonymous incident reports by using a password-protected webpage. Names of victims or suspects will not be disclosed, except in the event of confirmed missing persons.
Each report will be evaluated upon receipt. If an incident does not meet ASAP criteria for a text alert to be issued, that incident may still be posted on AAR’s REALTOR® Safety webpage for members and the public to access.
ASAP alerts will be similar to Amber or weather alerts and briefly describe the circumstances and general area in which an incident occurred, as well as include a link to additional information.
REALTORS® may opt-out of receiving future alerts by choosing one of the following options:
- Send an email to abuse@eztexting.com
- Reply to an alert with the words “opt-out,” “unsubscribe,” “remove” or “stop”
- Send a text message containing the word “stop” to 313131
Regardless of whether an online incident report is submitted, safety concerns should be reported immediately to local law enforcement authorities.
All ASAP postings, including REALTOR® Safety videos, can be found at AgentSafetyAlert.com.
